The team was formed at the beginning of 2010 by players from the Herne Bay and Yellabacks teams who played in the East Kent Coastal Petanque League. We started at the bottom and came second in League Division 7 in our first season, and were runners-up in the Kent League Handicap Triples.
For 2011 we played in Division 6 following our promotion and had another successful season winning the league and being unbeaten. We got to the semi-final of the plate but lost to Lordswood Lightning, the eventual winners.
The 2012 season was another successful one as we won Division 5 and secured promotion for the third year running. The triples team of Alan Martin, Bob Philpott and Robert Sheridan were the plate runners-up in the Kent League handicap.
2013 was another successful year as we won Division 4 and also the Kent League plate.
2014 saw us moving from our original venue to the Hare and Hounds, Blean, near Canterbury but only for a short time as we were obliged to move again mid-season to Whitstable Cricket Club. Overall we had quite a good season in spite of our difficulties coming third in Division 3 but just missing out on automatic promotion.
2015 got off to a really bad start with the sad news of the death of our friend and team-mate Bob Philpott. We were promoted to Division 2 and spent the season getting to grips with the terrain at the Cricket Club and adapting our play to accommodate our new team members, Robin Hardy and Duncan Hardy. At the end of the season we finished in mid-table, achieving this without the distraction of a prolonged run in either the Cup or Plate.
For 2016 we have fully integrated into the Whitstable Natives Petanque Club who have two teams in the EKCPL and this year welcome another member, Phil Lyne, to the team. It promises to be an interesting season with the KL adopting their new playing format of doubles and triples which is used in the EKCPL so we'll all be familiar with it.
In the EKCPL the 2016 season was one of considerable success! The A team were runners-up in the first division and the B team achieved the same distinction in division two in their first season and added to this won the plate competition. Both teams made it to finals day, the A team losing out to the eventual winners in the semi-final.
Unfortunately the Kent League team suffered the loss of players as a result to work commitments and had to withdraw mid-season and will not be able to rejoin for 2017
Our aims are still:

Our aims are still:
- Progress through the league
- Make new friends in the wider Petanque community
- Enter competitions
- Attract new players to the game and to the club
- And above all, to enjoy playing petanque
